| Brief Description: | The plot revolves around three women, Ketki (Madhuri Dixit), Chandravati (Shabana Azmi) and Kanti (Shilpa Shirodkar). Ketki and Chandrvati are sister in-laws while Kanti is a servant. Tirpat Singh (Mohan Joshi), a contractor ,gets involved with Ketki's husband Vinay (Ayub Khan) and soon, murders him due to some complications. After all this has happened, Ketki witnesses Kanti being exploited by Tirpat. Abhay Singh (Mohan Agashe) husband of Chandravati is Tirpat's biggest enemy. Meanwhile, amongst all the warfare and hate, Chandravati falls in love with Ram Baran (Om Puri) and becomes pregnant. After the three women go through so much, all three of the women, Ketki, Kanti and Chandravati,decide to rebell and thus, are sentenced to a Mrityudand, or a death sentence. But, soon the story takes a wide turn and the women of the village all unite and join forces and teach all the male shovinists a lesson. |
