The beginning lessons require very basic reading of one word vocabulary with graphic associations. More complex lessons require reading of paragraphs. The voice tracks are modeled by native speakers and the learner can practice pronunciation with a microphone. There are many context clues for beginning students involving graphics and animation. Clicking on objects results in the name being spoken. After instruction in the lesson there is immediate practice and instant feedback. Cloze technique exercises provide practice various language patterns and vocabulary. As the student progresses to the next level, the questions and cloze techniques become more complex from simple yes/no questions to either/or questions. Some of the topics covered in the lessons may be familiar to students while others may not. In the latter case, the teacher will have to supply adequate background information to make the material comprehensible. Since reading is required, the student should have at least some beginning literacy skills to use the program. The program is self-paced and includes a student management program. AGE RANGE: 8-Adult.
