| Brief Description: | Unless you're fluent in a foreign language, using software in that language can be tough. Jargon can help you. Jargon solves many of the problems normally associated with using software in foreign languages by opening your user interface to local translations. Before Jargon, you could translate your applications yourself, or you could ask your distributor or even a software developer to do it for you. With Jargon, you don't need to modify the source code anymore. With Jargon, you are truly independent. Jargon can easily change the presentation of your Windows user interfaces to meet many local language requirements. For example, an application with a German user interface can be run with a French interface, without any source code changes. Jargon does all of this with Phrasebooks. Phrasebooks are libraries of text which Jargon uses in the controls of Windows applications. These Phrasebooks include menus, buttons, static controls, and captions. Jargon dynamically replaces the existing text in the controls of your Windows applications with the localizations or translations you select when you run your application. Once developed for an application, Phrasebooks can be easily distributed with Jargon. All you need is one copy of Jargon to handle all of your applications on a single computer system. Once installed and configured, Jargon operates from your Startup Group. Its operation is completely automatic and worry-free. Jargon comes with System Phrasebooks for the Windows common dialogs in nine western European languages. It also includes sample Application Phrasebooks for Write, PaintBrush, FileManager, and NotePad. We have also successfully demonstrated Jargon on international versions of Windows including Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Hebrew, as well as several Eastern European versions. |

| Supports Applications Unaware of Jargon Jargon provides easy-to-use features to identify the applications Jargon should translate, letting you determine how and when the localization will take place. Applications Run With Automatic Translation Jargon does not alter your applications. If you disable Jargon, then all of the original screen text will return, keeping your warranty with these applications. Translates Into Foreign Languages and Dialects Jargon can not only translate from one language to another, but it can also simply make dialect or terminology changes. Customizable Phrasebooks Jargon includes Phrasebooks for each application along with a system-wide Phrasebook. You can access these Phrasebooks with Jargon's Phrasebook Editor, and then add, modify or delete the words and phrases you desire. Flexible Application Translation The Application Preferences dialog allows you to disable the localization of specific applications on either a temporary or permanent basis. It also allows you to identify new applications to Jargon and modify on-screen data types. Easy Installation and Setup Jargon uses a standard Windows Setup program, so your installation is familiar, easy and complete. Easily Installs New Languages Alda Technologies constantly updates and adds new localizations to Jargon. We make them available through public networks and bulletin board systems. Freely Distribute Custom Localizations When you create a localization for a specific application, you can use Jargon's export feature to create a separate Phrasebook file. You can then distribute your localization to others. Seamless Background Translation Once you've identified an application, Jargon translates it without your intervention with minimal impact on your system. Font Mapping Facilitates Alternate Character Sets You can specify alternate fonts in response to font requests by your application from Windows. This feature allows your application flexibility in changing fonts and character sets to meet your local requirements. |
