This Tagalog-English dictionary is written to serve two audiences, speakers of Tagalog who need access to bilingual dictionary and students of Tagalog (Pilipino), the national language of the Philippines.

To be as comprehensive as possible for it's size, the dictionary is root based, as are most dictionaries of languages with a complex morphological typology. It is assumed that the majority of Tagalog speakers will be able to use this format, as they are usually easily able to parse complex words into roots and affixes and have been taught in School to do so. For Non-native speakers and beginning learners, a chart of Tagalog affixes (prefixes, suffixes, infixes and reduplication) is provided to help them identify the proper way to look up the more complex (polymorphemic) entries. The relatively simple nature of Tagalog affixation (with minimal morphophonemics) should not make this a difficult task.
