Arabic is the language of daily communication for between 150 and 200 million people, and the language of worship for many more hundreds of millions of Muslims world-wide. The spoken language naturally varies from country to country. This course focuses on the variant spoken in the countries of the Levant (Syria, Jordan and Lebanon).

Colloquial Arabic (Levantine) features:

    It provides a coherent view of the formation of racial and ethnic characteristics, cultural values, and social and political institutions. Colloquial Albanian gives a complete introduction to a fascination and little-known language, together with background information on the Albanian people and their culture. No previous knowledge of the language is necessary, and the course can be used for the classroom or for self-study.

    Each lesson contains converstations and texts based on everyday situatuions, with vocabulary built up gradually from this material. All the grammar used in the lessons is fully explained, an supplemented by clear grammatical tables for easy reference. Progress can be tested at teh end of each lesson by completing the comprehensive and varied exercises. An exersise key, a two-way glossary of over 2,000 words and a supplementary reading section of extracts from Albanian literature, are all features which contribute to the course's self-sufficiency.
