| Brief Description: | A retrospective tape of the work of Noel Harding, whose video, film
and sculptural installations center around the interaction of props
and settings. Through this interaction, he explores very personal
notions of illusion and reality, subjective understanding and public
perceptions. The works included on the tape are: Birth's Child, a
mother and child portrait which takes on sculptural qualities;
Simplified Confusions, a conversational counterpoint and quick cuts
which examine the interchange between a woman and a man; A Serene
Composition Suggestive of Pastoral Repose, a study of combinations of
the sensual; Yellow,M a fantasy play which reflects the interior
landscape; Out of Control, a fast-paced, hard-boiled tale of sex,
power and intrigue in high places inspired by the story of G. Gordon
Liddy; Houses Belong to Those Who Live in Them, an examination of the
complexities of modern life; and Elephants, inspired by the shooting
down of the Korean jetliner, composed of image after image to
construct an enigmatic work. Total length: 53 mins. |
