Tony Scott's stylish variation of the lovers on the run theme, with Christian Slater as a lonely Detroit comic book store clerk who impulsively marries a call girl (Patricia Arquette). After Slater inadvertently steals a suitcase full of cocaine from a vicious pimp (Gary Oldman), he and Arquette travel to Los Angeles, with the mob in feverish pursuit.
