On vacation in the Alps, Tintin receives a letter from Chang in which he says that he will visit him soon. The following day, the newspaper announces the crash of the plane in which Chang was on, in the Himalayas. Later, Tintin dreams that he sees Chang alive, asking for his help. He decides to leave for Tibet to search for him, accompanied by Haddock. They find the wreck, but no traces of Chang. Tintin then finds a cave where Chang engraved his name, whitch proves he survived the crash. After an accident, they are accomodated in a monastery and receive the vision of a monk. They go to the place indicated and find Chang, who had been taken by the yeti.
