American avant-garde filmmaker Christopher Maclaine, an eccentric figure of the San Francisco North Beach beat scene, made this film which intercuts color and black-and-white sequences, as well as sound-with-no picture, showing five different people seen on the last days of their lives. Made from a new, restored print with enhanced sound. "No one has ever managed to make a film with the same manic inventiveness as Christopher Maclaine. Neither a late start--he began making films at the age of 30--nor a lack of formal training in the medium proved to be impediments. Coming to the cinema from poetry, Maclaine proceeded to develop his own unique syntax of filmic expression" (J.J. Murphy).
