One of cinema's great curiosities, this is the British version of the feature-length animated film by the great French animator Paul Grimault and a result of his collaboration with Jacques Prevert. Both Grimault and Prevert disavowed the film, which Grimault later remade in 1980 as The King and the Bird, using about half of this original footage. Nevertheless, in England Peter Ustinov and Claire Bloom lend their voices to this animated fantasy, which begins when an evil king tries to thwart the path of true love. 64 mins.
