  • These are the instructions for the MKL-02S Language Repeater:

The controls for the actual cassette player/recorder are the same as a standard cassette deck. However in addition to this, the Language Repeater has an entirely separate digital recorder built in that is designed to help you study and learn language. There are 7 control buttons on the recorder. Here is the explanation for the control buttons.

1 - Play/Repeat - This Button stops the actual cassette deck and plays back from the time the cassette played until the button was hit. It repeats until the cassette is restarted by pushing these button again, or other buttons are pushed for other features.

2 - Follow/Repeat - This button allows the user to record their own voice thru the built-in microphone in the top of the recorder. This must be pushed either while the digital part of the recorder is playing back or it may be pushed while the cassette is playing. When it is pushed, the digital part of the recorder records your voice. If it is pushed again the recording stops and what was recorded is repeated until another function is selected.

3 - AUTO/Compare - This button is used to compare what you have recorded (your voice) and the tape. It must be pushed after the Follow/Repeat button had recorded your voice. Then it will play back the selection of the tape, then alternately, your voice. It repeats until another button is pushed.

4 - Bottom 4 buttons - These buttons below the digital display control the selection and playback of what has been recorded on the digital portion of the recorder. To use these buttons you must first play the cassette and click the Play/Repeat button to select a section into the digital recorder.

Repeat/Stop - While the digital selection is being played back this button will stop, and when hit again, restart that playback.

Pick-UP - This button sends the playback to the beginning of the selection. When hit a second time it repeats the entire digital section.

REW - This button simply rewinds the digital section. You can rewind little by little by repeatedly hitting this button and watch the display to see how much you've rewound. When you stop hitting the button it plays back from that point.

F-F/Pickup - This button moves point of playback later in the playback selection. You can hit this button little by little until the display shows a later point and then when you stop, the recorder will playback from that point to the end of the entire selection. It will repeat this selection until the button is hit again and then the entire selection will be repeated.
