| Brief Description: | In this Dictionary, every endeavour has been made to bring it up-to-date in the light of modern reseach. Expressions that had become obsolete or antiquated have been modernised; in giving meanings of the words that suits the context best; a large number of technical terms occuring in the mathematical and other scientific works as well as the terms coined by the Government Terms Committee have been included; and the collection of head words has been enlarged.
A moot point in Sinhalese is its orthography and in the present work the system followed is that used by the compilers of the sinhalese dictionary which is now being issued under the auspicious of the ceylon branch of the Royal Asiatic Society. This System has been accepted as the most correct in the light of the latest researches. |
