| Brief Description: | Lensed by Sven Nykvist, this 1965 Swedish drama boasts an ensemble cast that includes Harriet Andersson, Gunnel Lindblom, and Gunnar Bjornstrand, but it's not by Ingmar Bergman. Instead, actress Mai Zetterling helmed the project--an adaptation of Agnes von Krusenstijerna's The Misses von Pahlen--and the director's feminist convictions shine through the material. Set in a Swedish hospital in 1915, Zetterling's film explores the lives of three pregnant woman, each from a different social strata.
