Randlett Edmonds treasured elder and speaker of the Caddo language has recorded over two hours of words and phrases guaranteeing the survival of the language. Written and edited by Alice Anderton and Brian Levy with assistance from Charlene Wright and Vermona Collins and an introduction by Cecile Elkins Carter, the accompanying booklet and CDs address the basics of the language in a "Listen and Repeat" format. Such things as "Greetings, Daily Interactions, Family Relations, Travel, Numbers, Songs and Dances, even a section on Weather phrases, this program offers a complete introduction to this beautiful language spoken by one who spoke his language first. The Caddo Nation was once located in what is now Louisana, and portions of Texas and Oklahoma. Their headquarters and tribal offices are located today in Binger, Oklahoma. |
