| Brief Description: | Deemed "too close to 'real' life in the former Soviet Union" and thus
banned in 1979, The Errors of Youth is the story of Dmitri (Stanislav
Zhdanko), a former conscript in the Red Army (now a highly-paid
construction worker in Siberia), who finds his love affair
disintegrating over the question of children. Disillusioned, he moves
to Leningrad, falls into a life of black marketeers, and enters into a
marriage of expediency. Director Boris Frumin left the unfinished film
behind and emigrated to the United States, and in a historic gesture
on Russia's part, was invited back to Leningrad 11 years later to
complete the film. With Stanislav Zhdanko, Marina Neyelova and Natalia
Varley. Russian with English subtitles. |
