| Brief Description: | Abhimaan, released in the early seventies, is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. This is the story of a singer Subir Kumar (Amitabh Bachchan), who finds a girl (Jaya Bhadhuri) in a village. She is also a singer but not star like him. He detects a very good singer in her and falls in love with her. He marries her and brings her in commercial music, where she overtakes him by her excellent quality and then begins cold war between them. At one time she gives up singing for him and goes back to her village. But finally she has to come back.
There is lot of emotional drama. You can see very good acting by both Amitabh and Jaya. It is ably supported by Asrani (as Amitabh's friend cum secretary), Bindu and David. The movie has excellent music with many hit songs like Meet na mila re man ka..., Tere Mere Milan Ki Yeh Raina ... and Teri bindiya re....
