Because Quicktionary is a self-contained unit, there is no need to connect to any external component. Users can scan a word they want to look up without having to interrupt their reading. There is no longer any need to put down a book, newspaper etc., and search in unwieldy dictionaries or press awkward little buttons on the keyboard of an electric pocket dictionary. The tremendous richness of the Quicktionary database is such that users will be able to find the translation they need for almost any word or expression they scan. In addition, Quicktionary enables searching for adjacent dictionary entries and instant recall of the previous 75 scanned words. --------------------------- Quicktionary Questions and Answers Q: Does the Quicktionary switch itself off automatically if I forget to? A: Yes. The Quicktionary has a built-in automatic shut-off function which you can set from 15 to 240 seconds. Q: Can I also use the Quicktionary to scan words hyphenated at the end of a line? A: Yes. The Quicktionary has a special function that allows you to scan the first half of a divided word, followed by the second half on the next line. It then reads these two halves as one whole word. Yes, this is how simple it is to translate using the Quicktionary Inside its tip, Quicktionary has a tiny built-in scanner, mounted above the two rollers. As you scan, this 'electronic eye' records an image of the word you scan. Quicktionary then searches for this word in its memory and presents you with the translation. Just glide QuicktionaryTM optical scanner over a word to automatically translate it. The display window shows every possible translation. All you have to do is: Remove the protective cap from the tip Turn on Quicktionary, by pressing the Power button Align the marker with the center of the text line (as in figure 1) Hold Quicktionary upright so that both the rollers and marker are on the page (see figure 2) Scan gently and without applying pressure, from right to left. Keep Quicktionary aligned with the center of the line while you scan [Note: For the best results, scan the spaces to the left and right of the word together with the word itself] Lift Quicktionary off the page when you are sure the rollers have passed the entire word.
